Sacramento, CA, September 2024
Senses Cultural, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting health, understanding, and awareness across nations with a special focus on autism outreach, is proud to announce another successful event in our “Cooking For Autism” series. This initiative is part of Senses Cultural’s broad commitment to facilitating connections for greater awareness and understanding of autism, Fragile X syndrome, and related developmental challenges.
The event featured keynote remarks by Tata Monfared, Founder and Executive Director of Senses Cultural, followed by an inspiring presentation by Mr. Michael Sanford, Vice President of PBS KVIE, a longtime friend, and recognized community leader. Renowned scientists, Dr. Paul Hagerman and Dr. Randi Hagerman, from the UC Davis MIND Institute presented their groundbreaking research on Fragile x syndrome and autism (link), highlighting the global impact of these conditions and the potential of emerging research to improve millions of lives.
Fostering Collaboration for Greater Awareness
The event brought together key community members, leading scientists, and advocates with a shared mission to advance research and promote awareness of autism and Fragile X syndrome. Mr. Sanford emphasized the role of media in driving community engagement and disseminating valuable information, while Dr. Paul and Dr. Randi Hagerman shared the latest scientific insights into how these neurodevelopmental conditions affect individuals and families worldwide.
In keeping with Senses Cultural’s commitment to leveraging art for social impact, the event also featured Ms. Mehri Yazdani, an accomplished artist and advocate, who will play a leading role in facilitating collaboration between media, art, and the autism community. Ms. Yazdani’s contributions highlight the powerful role art can play in promoting understanding and enhancing quality of life for individuals affected by autism.
Creating New Possibilities
During her remarks, Tata Monfared underscored the importance of partnerships in driving change. “Our work at Senses Cultural is about connecting different aspects of our society—science, media, art, and advocacy—to create an era of new possibilities for autism and Fragile X syndrome research,” said Monfared. “We are grateful for the support of our community in making this vision a reality.”
The gathering marked a significant milestone in Senses Cultural’s ongoing efforts to amplify awareness of autism and Fragile x syndrome through science, art, and media. The event successfully fostered conversations on how to create a meaningful impact and ensure continued collaboration to advance knowledge and support for affected families.
