America’s Got Talent winner Kodi Lee has autism and is blind. But that didn’t stop him from being a singer-songwriter and pianist. Lee, who is 22, won the 14th season of the reality competition show. The contest was tight, and it turned Lee into a national sensation because of his incredible performance and rendition of ‘The Sound of Silence’. Lee had a long journey to make before reaching success. The southern California native, who received a standing ovation for his performance, has battled major hardships in life. He had to work exceptionally hard to master his craft, and to travel across the world for years to play the piano. But he was blessed with an audio photographic memory, enabling Lee to recall music after hearing it just once, including songs in different languages. His blindness affected how he processed information. But having autism also meant that playing music saved Lee’s life. His incredible talents, including being an excellent tap dancer, have won him invitations to perform at the Carnegie Hall in New York City. He also stands to receive a great pay check of $1 million for winning the talent show.
