At Senses Cultural we are dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of autistic people across the U.S., Europe, and the Middle East. Through community service activities, art programs, and online media we provide diverse opportunities to meet the needs of autistic people. To further foster a supportive and understanding world we are expanding our work to fund groundbreaking research on autism and related neurodevelopmental disorders.
We have partnered with two renowned scientists, Dr. Randi Hagerman at the University of California Davis MIND Institute and Dr. Alessandro Prigione at Heinrich-Heine-University in Germany, to help advance their research project; Gene Engineering Approaches to the Treatment of Fragile X-Associated Neurodevelopmental and Neurodegenerative Disorders Including Autism. To hear more about this incredible research listen to Dr. Prigione explain it in this interview. With your tax-deductible donation we can answer the questions of families, self-advocates, educators, and scientists that will one day provide affordable, safe, and reversible medical procedures to support autistic people.
This cutting-edge project can be fully funded for two years with only $450,000. The money we raise will go towards hiring two post-doctoral scholars and the purchase of lab supplies and equipment for two years of experiments. Your donation – no matter the amount – will make meaningful impact on our research project!
Major funding goals for the first year:
$52,000 will be used to hire one post-doctoral researcher for one year
$121,000 will be used to purchase lab equipment and supplies
$225,000 will cover the total project costs for the first year
If you have any questions or would like to contribute, please email Derek Wilson our fundraising coordinator at Derek@sensescultural.org or call us at 215-290-9348. With your help we are one step closer to funding this important research and improving the lives or autistic people!
