Golbon Eghtedari immigrated to the United States from Tehran at the age of four. Making the West Coast her home, she moved to Chicago in 2007 to complete a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Arts at Columbia College. Focusing on the intimate relationship between photography and film, her creative work is increasingly fueled by her early childhood experience and fragmented memories of the Iran-Iraq war. For the past four years, she has been working on an ongoing documentary project in a suburban favela (slum) community in Salvador, Brazil. Living amongst the social cycle of “misery” that so few have witnessed has inspired her to share their stories and existence Believing that film is a powerful weapon for change, Golbon has supported Senses Cultural projects to promote health and the arts.
